Favre Leuba unveils its first tourbillon timepiece

One of the world’s oldest watchmaking brands, Favre Leuba, has introduced its first-ever tourbillon timepiece—the Chief Tourbillon. Limited to just 25 pieces, this exceptional timepiece was created in collaboration with renowned master watchmaker Jean-François Mojon of Chronode, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s 287-year heritage. Founded in 1737, Favre Leuba experienced a period of dormancy before being resurrected in 2024 under the leadership of Patrik Hoffmann (former CEO of Ulysse Nardin).

The Chief Tourbillon’s most striking feature is its three-dimensional embossed dial, showcasing Favre Leuba’s Hourglass emblem. Crafted using precision stamping and engineered tools, it features three levels of depth - raised sunray-brushed triangles (0.15mm), recessed matte triangles (-0.15mm), and a foundation layer in between.

The 14.85mm tourbillon cage is positioned at 6 o’clock, with a flamed-blue small seconds hand positioned at its centre. It features a horizontally brushed finish on its top surface and a circular-grain finish on its outer edge. The indexes and hands are rhodium-plated and layered with Super-LumiNova C1 X1, which glows blue in the dark.

Inside the 41mm stainless steel case, the timepiece is driven by manual-winding FL T01 movement, a heavily reworked version of the Chronode C502, developed in collaboration with Jean-François Mojon. The movement beats at a 3 Hz frequency and offers a 60-hour power reserve. Geneva stripes, anthracite finish, and blue screws decorate the calibre, while the ratchet wheel showcases the brand’s logo, all visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. The watch is water resistant up to 100 metres.

Flanking it is a brushed and polished integrated steel bracelet, featuring a double-link construction and folding clasp. Additionally, an extra black rubber strap with a Favre Leuba pin buckle is included for versatility. The timepiece is presented in a high-grade wooden watchbox, which includes an extra strap, a medallion, and a loupe.

The limited edition Favre Leuba Chief Tourbillon is priced at approximately Rs. 24,05,000.
