Taking a bold departure from classic round cases and elegant dials, Seiko introduced the VANAC collection in 1972, characterised by multifaceted geometric aesthetics and vibrant colours. Five decades later, the brand has now relaunched the VANAC within its flagship collection, King Seiko—originally introduced in 1961 with premium Seiko watches and revived in 2022.
The new King Seiko VANAC brings the horizon of its high rise Tokyo city on its dial. The colours of the Tokyo sky at different times of the day inspire the dial shades of the three main models in the collection—SLA083 reflects the evening twilight in purple, SLA085 captures midnight in navy, and SLA087 embodies sunrise with its silver-toned dial.
Beyond these three timepieces, two additional models join the collection. The SLA089, a limited edition of 700 pieces, also represents Tokyo’s sunrise with a golden-coloured dial, complemented by gold-toned logos on the dial and caseback. Meanwhile, the clear blue sky of the capital city is depicted in another boutique-exclusive edition, the SLA091.

Each watch features a 41mm stainless steel case with a distortion-free mirror finish, exuding the bold, dynamic angularity that defines the VANAC collection. The absence of a bezel gives the collection a sleek 14.3mm profile. The dial showcases a horizontal groove pattern with an embedded ring for the indices. The index at 12 o’clock, along with the counterweight of the seconds hand, is shaped like a ‘V’—a nod to the first letter of the collection’s name. The luminous-coated hands and markers, brand and collection logos, and a date window at 3 o’clock complete the dial, which is topped by a sapphire crystal.
Turn the watch over to see the Caliber 8L45 movement powering the all-new VANAC collection. Visible through the sapphire caseback—a first for a King Seiko watch since its 2022 revival—the movement provides 72 hours of autonomy and an improved accuracy of +10 to -5 seconds per day, operating at a frequency of 4 Hz.
Completing the design is an integrated stainless steel bracelet with mirror- and hairline-finished faceted links, secured with a triple-folding clasp with a push-button release.
All five timepieces, priced approx. INR 3,20,000, will be available for purchase starting July 2025. The three main models and the limited edition will be sold at Seiko Boutiques and select retailers worldwide. The boutique-exclusive edition will be available exclusively at Seiko stores globally.

What we think -
It is the privilege of the brand that it has such an extensive past catalog, and that makes these modern re-issues of the classics of the yesteryears all the more desirable. These new King Seiko VANAC models are the perfect blend of heritage designs and modern day technologies. A crowd pleaser for sure.
