The revered French watch brand Yema has a decades-long history of crafting high-quality diving watches. In 1967, Yema filed a patent for its renowned internal bezel-lock mechanism—one of the first locking dive bezels—which prevented the bezel from inadvertently moving while scuba diving. This added an extra layer of safety to the screw-in crown mechanism and the crown guard. This bezel was a key feature of the brand’s iconic Superman model, the first dive watch produced in France that was waterproof to a depth of 300 metres.

In 1970, Yema introduced the award-winning Flygraf aviation chronograph, recognised for its unique multi-role bezel made of two distinct parts. That same year, the French Air Force selected Yema to equip its elite Search and Rescue (SAR) unit with a reliable tool watch that was both highly durable and resistant to corrosion and water and ensured legibility in the harshest environments.

Since then, Yema has released numerous references of the Superman model, one of which—the Superman Ref. 53.00.16 from the 1970s—inspired the latest addition to the collection. The Yema Superman Swiss Edition retains signature design elements, such as the proprietary bezel-lock mechanism and a 120-click unidirectional bezel with an aluminium insert featuring a 60-minute diving scale. The timepiece, crafted from polished 316L stainless steel and topped with a double-domed sapphire crystal, is available in both 39mm and 41mm versions. Designed with a screw-down crown and caseback, the watch offers a water resistance of 300 metres.

The dial is available in four colour variations—black, beige, blue, and white. The bezel matches the dial colour in the blue version, while the other variants feature a black bezel. The hands, hour markers, and dot index on the bezel are coated with Grade A Super-LumiNova for enhanced legibility in low-light underwater conditions. A date window with a white backdrop is positioned at 3 o’clock on all versions.

Finishing touches include Yema’s logo on the crown and caseback, the latter crafted using a hydraulic press and refined with sandblasting.

Staying true to its vintage design, the Yema Superman Swiss Edition is powered by the Sellita SW200-1 movement. This calibre beats at 4 Hz and provides approximately 38 hours of power reserve on a full wind. The case is paired with a 316L stainless steel bracelet featuring a double safety folding clasp with a diving extension.

All versions are competitively priced at approximately INR 1,05,000.
