Celebrating the enduring legacy of Italian cycling icons Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali, Breitling has launched two limited-edition chronographs in its Top Time collection. The Top Time B01 Coppi and Top Time B01 Bartali pay tribute to both the professional rivalry and deep friendship shared by the two athletes. Limited to 750 pieces each, these timepieces reflect the colours of their respective bikes and jerseys.
The Top Time B01 Fausto Coppi features turquoise subdials on a white dial, complemented by an orange lightning-shaped seconds hand—a nod to Coppi’s signature flair. Meanwhile, the Top Time B01 Gino Bartali showcases a bold blue dial with yellow accents, reminiscent of Bartali’s racing attire. A tachymeter scale encircles the dial, inscribed with the cyclists’ nicknames—“Il Campionissimo” and “L’Intramontabile.” At 6 o’clock, their signatures are prominently displayed. The squircle-shaped subdials at 3 and 9 o’clock—used for running seconds and chronograph minutes—are brushed to evoke the imagery of the champions riding side by side. For optimal visibility in low-light conditions, the hour and minute hands are filled with Super-LumiNova®.
Crafted in stainless steel, the 41mm chronographs are powered by the in-house, COSC-certified Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01. This movement delivers a 70-hour power reserve, 1/4th-second and 30-minute chronograph functions, and features a column wheel with vertical clutch. The mushroom-shaped pushers control the chronograph, while the transparent sapphire caseback reveals the intricately finished movement and an engraved tribute: “Fausto Coppi Tribute” or “Gino Bartali Tribute,” along with “One of 750.”
Each timepiece is available with a perforated calfskin leather strap—turquoise for Coppi, blue for Bartali—or an optional stainless-steel mesh bracelet, both equipped with butterfly clasps for comfort and security.
Breitling CEO Georges Kern commented, “Coppi and Bartali had one of the greatest rivalries in sports. They pushed each other to new heights. An incredibly inspiring story that these watches bring to life.”
