Expanding its iconic dive watch collection, the Fifty Fathoms, Blancpain has officially welcomed the new Fifty Fathoms Automatique 42mm. The timepiece, crafted in polished stainless steel, is now part of the brand’s permanent collection and pays tribute to the original Fifty Fathoms from 1953—the first modern diving watch by Blancpain, created for elite military divers and underwater explorers.

The Fifty Fathoms Automatique 42mm retains the core design elements of its ancestor: a lockable unidirectional bezel, a highly legible dial, anti-magnetic protection, an automatic movement, and high water resistance of up to 300 metres. The bezel features a domed sapphire insert that adds a glossy, refined appeal. The sunburst black dial is equipped with indexes and hands filled with XXL luminescence for optimal readability in dark underwater environments. A date window positioned at 4:30 offers additional utility.

Visible through the sapphire caseback, the watch is powered by the automatic Blancpain Caliber 1315. Introduced in 2007, the movement features three series-coupled barrels, delivering an impressive 5-day power reserve. A silicon balance spring ensures robust anti-magnetic resistance and stable chronometric performance, even in challenging oceanic conditions. The 18K red gold oscillating weight, finished with NAC treatment, takes visual inspiration from the original 1953 model.

The Fifty Fathoms Automatique 42mm is not a limited edition and comes with the choice of a polished stainless steel bracelet or a Tropic rubber strap with either a pin buckle or deployant clasp.
