Following the success of its 35th-anniversary limited-edition chronograph in 2023, the independent French brand Herbelin expands its iconic Newport line with the launch of the Newport Chronograph Heritage. This new model pays homage to the original Newport timepiece from 1988, blending vintage design elements with contemporary mechanical performance and marine-inspired aesthetics.
The Newport Chronograph Heritage retains the hallmark features of its predecessor—a cylindrical stainless steel case, central lugs, and a bezel shaped like a ship’s porthole—highlighting Herbelin’s deep maritime roots. The engraved black ceramic bezel incorporates a tachymeter scale, while decorative screws mimic sailboat winches, and the crown features a marine wheel motif.
Beneath the anti-reflective glassbox sapphire crystal lies a brushed black dial, framed by a precise minute track on a black flange with white markers. The black azurage-finished sub-dials at 3 and 9 o’clock serve as a 30-minute chronograph counter and a small seconds counter, respectively, complemented by a date window positioned at 6 o’clock.
Visible through a transparent case back, the Newport Chronograph Heritage is powered by a Swiss-made automatic mechanical movement with a 62-hour power reserve, finely regulated in Herbelin’s workshops in the French Jura Mountains.
Completing its sporty yet refined look, the timepiece comes paired with a classic black leather strap.
