On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Maurice de Mauriac released a new ladies' collection in its L Series, originally designed by Basel-based designer Fabian Schwaerzler in 2014. The series began with the L1 line of essential watches, followed by the L2 Diver in 2016 and the L3 Chronograph in 2019.
Born in Zurich, Switzerland, Maurice de Mauriac was founded by Daniel Dreifuss in 1997 as a family-owned boutique brand. It is now headed by Dreifuss’ sons, Massimo and Leonard, and his daughter, Masha. The brand is renowned for its unique designs, customizable watches, and high-quality straps.
Coming back to the L3 Small Seconds, the timepiece has been released in six dial colours: black, white, cherry blossom, spheric blue, spheric green, and spheric burgundy. All six dials come with both brushed steel and black DLC-coated steel case variations, measuring 36.5mm. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal tops the case and seals the caseback.
The dial follows the brand’s minimalistic approach, with the small seconds displayed at 6 o’clock. The hour and minute hands, as well as the indexes, are filled with Super-LumiNova SLN X1 BL. A small date window is placed at 3 o’clock.
Powering the timepiece is the custom-made automatic ETA 2895-2 calibre with Incabloc shock protection and a power reserve of approximately 44 hours. The watch has a water resistance of up to 30 metres.
The watches in the L3 Small Seconds series are paired with hand-tooled straps made from Barenia leather in cognac, chocolate, or black, or a Milanese steel mesh bracelet. The stainless steel bracelet matches the finish of the case.
The stainless steel versions are priced at INR 2,85,000 (approx.), while the black DLC-coated versions are priced at INR 3,80,000 (approx.). They will be available for purchase online and at the brand’s atelier and concept store in Zurich starting at the end of March.
