It’s complicated!

With 41 complications, 14 astronomical functions and an innovative Westminster minute-repeater, Vacheron Constantin’s Les Cabinotiers Solaria Ultra Grande Complication – La Première is here to turn the watch world on its head!

Launched at this year’s Watches & Wonders Geneva, 2025, the double-sided Les Cabinotiers Solaria Ultra Grand Complication - La Première breaks new ground, not only in mechanical complexity, innovation and design, but also in the realm of miniaturisation.

Launched in honour of their 270th anniversary, Vacheron Constantin’s latest watch epitomizes their moto:

"Do better if possible, and that is always possible"

The world's oldest watch Maison in continuous operation since 1755, Vacheron Constantin’s keen interest in high-complication watchmaking is well known. With a reputation for the best finishing and quality in Switzerland and for creating two of the most complicated watches ever made, Tour de l'Île (2005), a double-sided wristwatch with 16 complications and the Celestia Astronomical Grand Complication 3600 (2017), boasting 23 complications, Vacheron Constantin continues honouring their centuries-old legacy of excellence in haute horology.

And now, with the Les Cabinotiers Solaria Ultra Grand Complication - La Première, they have cemented their place in history.

Complicated to the core!

At the heart of this beautifully complicated masterpiece lies the exceptional new manufacture Calibre 3655, comprising 1521 components, with 204 jewels, protected by 13 patents, representing eight years of research and an unwavering commitment to innovation.

This single-piece edition operates at a frequency of 3 Hz (21’600 vibrations/hour) and offers an impressive 72-hour power reserve. At its core lies a sophisticated 3Hz tourbillon, featuring a silicon balance wheel with a high Q factor, reducing friction and enhancing precision.

Boasting an astonishing 41 complications, this masterpiece is every watch lover’s dream!

14 Astronomical Complications

A true tribute to the cosmos, the beautiful dial takes you on a journey through the whole universe. With precise sunrise and sunset indicators, the equation of time, and a real-time celestial chart, it offers an unparalleled connection to the heavens. The case back features a meticulously detailed sky chart, displaying the real-time positioning of stars and constellations based on the wearer’s location, allowing for precise celestial tracking at any moment.

Adding another dimension, the Calibre 3655 was designed so that it can display civil, solar and sidereal time simultaneously, with a gear train specific to each of them.

The astronomical moon phase display with age tracking offers an unparalleled level of precision, while the integrated tide tracker provides a real-time view of tidal movements.

Track time across 24 cities worldwide with the intuitive world-time complication, which lets you stay connected across time zones.

5 Chiming Complications

The acoustic complexity of this masterpiece is no less wondrous! Every hour resonates with grandeur thanks to the 5 chiming complications, led by the Westminster carillon minute repeater, which echoes the iconic chimes of London’s Big Ben! With four hammers and gongs it offers a choice between hour-only or full chime, incorporating a double-stop hammer system to optimize sound transmission.

The world’s first split-seconds chronograph paired with a star chart

And in a world-first, Vacheron Constantin pairs a split-seconds chronograph with a star chart, enabling the wearer to calculate the precise moment a chosen star or constellation will appear in the sky.

Perpetual Calendar and Lunar Indications

The astronomical functions are complemented by a Gregorian perpetual calendar, displaying the day, date, month, year, leap year cycle, and even the week number, ensuring accuracy without the need for manual correction. The lunar functions, including an astronomical moon phase indicator, age of the moon display, and tide tracking system, add another layer of precision to this masterpiece.

A masterpiece of complications!

Housed within an elegantly compact 45mm white gold case, standing at just 14.99mm, this beautiful masterpiece is quite wearable. But the staggering complications it boasted, demanded extreme miniaturization to remain compact. And so, Constantin developed an ingenious “plug and play” mounting system featuring a fast and precise connection mechanism that guarantees perfect indexing.

Complications never looked this cool!

Reminiscent of a gauge on a car dashboard, the front dial remains remarkably legible, thanks to a meticulously designed dial layout and masterful finishing.

The striking absence of traditional ornamentation creates a distinctly modern aesthetic. The interplay of white, black, and grey tones through finishes such as sunburst, sandblasted, and circular satin-polished surfaces. The white gold indexes, enhanced with rhodium plating and satin finishing, further amplify the legibility.

At 6 o’clock, the solar functions counter features a 5mm diameter Earth dome in rhodium-plated 18K gold highlighted by the contrast between highly polished continents with sandblasted oceans. The declination of the sun is highlighted by a polished 18K yellow gold half-sphere.

On the reverse side of the watch, the sapphire crystal caseback displays the constellations, the equatorial ellipse (grey circle), the ecliptic ellipse (yellow circle), the months, and 60-second graduations

The rotating celestial vault disc and the 24-hour scale is achieved through metallization in two shades of grey. The two split-seconds chronograph hands, which traverse the star chart, are lacquered in green and red to enhance contrast, also echoed in the 72-hour power reserve indication.

From circular graining to Geneva stripes and polished chamfers, the finishing of this masterpiece is no less complex! Showcasing 9 distinct techniques, no detail has been overlooked.

What makes this watch even more exclusive? The meticulously engraved caseback with ‘Pièce Unique’ and ‘Les Cabinotiers,’ while the 270th-anniversary emblem on the dial celebrates Vacheron Constantin’s centuries-long pursuit of excellence.

Tying it all together, this exclusive timepiece comes with black technical calfskin leather strap secured by an exquisite 18K white gold folding buckle.

What’s more, this made-to-order timepiece, allows bespoke customization to meet individual preferences! Each timepiece as unique as its owner!
