A part of the Swatch Group, Swiss-born Mido has unveiled its latest timepiece—the Mido Multifort 8 Two Crowns—inspired by what the brand calls ‘technometry,’ a blend of technology and geometry. The sports watch takes centre stage with its crisp octagonal bezel, an integrated bracelet design, and two crowns: the one at 2 o’clock operates the inner rotating bezel with the calibrated 60-minute flange that counts elapsed time, while the other crown at 4 o’clock sets the time.
The case of the Mido Multifort measures a compact 40mm x 9.5mm, with a lug-to-lug length of 44.86mm. Crafted from stainless steel, the case has a three-part construction with satin-finished and polished surfaces, topped by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The screw-down caseback and crowns ensure water resistance up to 100 metres.
The timepiece comes in three versions with different dial colours—matte blue, black, or grey. The flange is also colour-matched to the dial. Completing the display are tri-faceted hour and minute hands, featuring a satin-finished groove. The hour markers and indexes are coated with Super-LumiNova for enhanced readability in low-light conditions.
At the heart of this timepiece beats the Mido Calibre 72, a Swiss automatic movement derived from the ETA A31.111. The movement operates at a frequency of 3.5 Hz and boasts an impressive 72-hour power reserve. Enhanced with a Nivachron balance spring, it offers superior resistance to magnetic fields.
Mido offers the Multifort M Chronometer with distinct strap options. The blue variant is paired with an intricately textured rubber strap featuring relief motifs and a stainless steel pin buckle. Meanwhile, the black and grey models come with an integrated stainless steel bracelet and a folding clasp. Both configurations feature quick-release spring bars for seamless versatility.
The Multifort M Chronometer is priced at approximately INR 1,08,000 with the rubber strap, while the stainless steel bracelet variation is priced at INR 1,11,000.
What we think -
The new Mido Multifort 8 Two Crowns is a strong addition to the Swatch Group’s collection of sports watches, following the success of Tissot’s PRX. It is a pity that the brand and its watches are not available in India, because they would give the sub-1 lac segment a stiff competition.
