Reinforcing its presence in the world of sport and heritage-inspired timepieces, Alpina, a subsidiary of the Citizen group, unveiled two new watches at the 2025 Geneva watch fair: the Alpiner Extreme Automatic in an ice blue version, and the Heritage Tropic-Proof Handwinding, inspired by a vintage model.
The new Alpiner Extreme Automatic comes in a rugged 39mm × 40.5mm cushion-shaped stainless steel case, featuring a mix of brushed and polished finishes. Topped by a sapphire crystal, the dial boasts a fresh, satin-finished ice blue colour with Alpina’s signature triangle pattern. A matching blue minute/seconds track encircles the dial at its periphery. The indices and hands are silver-toned and filled with white luminescence. A date window at 3 o’clock adds daily practicality.
The timepiece is water-resistant up to 200 metres and features a screw-down crown with a textured blue rubber ring for improved grip. Visible through the sapphire caseback, the AL-525 automatic movement—based on the Sellita SW200, powers the watch. It runs at a 4Hz frequency with an autonomy of about 38 hours.
The Alpiner Extreme Automatic Ice Blue comes paired with a brushed and polished stainless steel bracelet and is priced at INR 1,95,000 (approx).
While the Alpiner Extreme looks to the future, the Heritage Tropic-Proof Handwinding revisits the brand’s iconic 1965 field watch. Reissued in a refined design, this model preserves the utilitarian spirit of the original while integrating modern reliability and durability.
Crafted in stainless steel, the timepiece retains the compact 34mm × 9.25mm case dimensions of the vintage model, originally designed by master casemaker François Borgel. Enhancing its vintage appeal, the case is topped with a glass-box sapphire crystal.
The Alpina Heritage Tropic-Proof Handwinding is offered in shiny white or black dial variants, maintaining a clean and retro aesthetic. A minute track runs along the perimeter of the dial, punctuated by beige luminous dots at five-minute intervals. The dial is highly legible, with silver-toned faceted indices and doubled markers at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. The indices and hands are filled with beige lume. The solid caseback features engraved motifs from the Heritage collection.
Inside, a manual-winding movement based on the Peseux calibre drives the watch, operating at 4Hz and offering a 42-hour power reserve. The watch is fitted with a beige Alcantara strap with matching stitching, secured with a steel pin buckle. It is priced at INR 1,88,000.
