From 1902, With Love
If a watch could turn back time, Schwarz Etienne’s all-new 1902 PETITE SECONDE is here to do just that!
Launched at Watches & Wonders Geneva 2025, Etienne’s latest launch is an open love letter to an era where timekeeping was an art. Born at the heart of Villa Sonnenheim, the 1902 PETITE SECONDE draws its elegance from the soul of this historical place. A fitting tribute to the brand’s foundation, it reflects Schwarz Etienne’s unwavering commitment to Swiss watchmaking tradition.
Established in 1902, Schwarz Etienne is synonymous with Swiss independent watchmaking. With a rich heritage stretching back centuries, Schwarz Etienne stands out with their in-house high-quality calibers and bold, original designs. And now, with the 1902 PETITE SECONDE, Etienne showcases their 120 years of horological expertise with elan!
Dialing up the charm!
At first glance, the 1902 PETITE SECONDE is striking for sure. But its true beauty reveals itself in layers, gradually unveiling its intricate detailing to those who take a closer look.
A perfect blend of vintage charm and modern elegance, this unique timepiece comes in three beautiful colours, Silver, Slate Grey, and 4N Gold.
The mesmerizing dial celebrates artistic individuality and pays homage to the classic sector dials of the early 20th century. Also called railroad dials, these precise, geometric layouts that enhance legibility were quite popular in the 1920s.
At its outermost edge, a white railway-style minute track ensures effortless readability, punctuated by bold markings at the quarters and Arabic numerals at five-minute intervals. The opaline-finished chapter ring, slightly elevated for depth, hosts applied, polished indices—alternating between elongated markers and rounded arrows, with a striking double marker at 12 o’clock. The grained center contrasts beautifully, drawing attention to the small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock. This subdial has a spiral-patterned finish and a polished contour for added depth and clarity.
The Lancine-style hands, a tribute to Schwarz Etienne’s heritage, have a sandblasted surface with polished edges, making them easy to read from any angle. Finishing the elegant design, the applied Schwarz Etienne logo sits proudly at the top, completing the watch’s easy timeless look.
Nature serves as an endless source of inspiration, evident in the intricate detailing of this masterpiece. While the micro-rotor with the striking chevron motif pays tribute to the surrounding fir trees of La Chaux-de-Fonds. Meanwhile, the sunray decoration on the ratchet wheel and the hand-polished teeth, showcase exceptional craftsmanship.
No dials, no levers, no flashing lights. Just pure, mechanical mastery.
Powering the 1902 PETITE SECONDE, is the ASE 300.00, an evolution of the ASE200 powering their previous Geometry watches. Precision-engineered and fully developed in-house, this self-winding micro-rotor movement is a testament to Schwarz Etienne’s technical mastery.
The design features six bridges, carefully arranged to create an open, layered look. The edges are polished and beveled, catching the light beautifully. The micro-rotor keeps the watch slim while still providing smooth, efficient winding. With a 3Hz frequency (21'600 Alt/h) and an 86-hour power reserve, this watch is as powerful as it is reliable.
A first for Schwarz Etienne, the new addition of Grade 5 titanium marks a significant leap in the brand’s evolution. The 39mm case is comfortable to wear while also being durable. The case features a mix of brushed and polished finishes, creating a stylish contrast. The lugs are shaped to fit smoothly on the wrist, and the crown, engraved with the Schwarz Etienne logo, adds a refined touch.
Priced at approximately Rs. 21,00,000, this collector’s item comes paired with alligator or calfskin straps with a rubber lining and a titanium pin buckle.
