A splash of colour, a touch of heritage!

This year, Oris made a colorful comeback at Watches & Wonders Geneva, 2025, by reviving their iconic Big Crown Pointer Date range in bold, new hues!

This Swiss-made classic now comes in 40mm and 34mm sizes, powered by in-house Calibre 403 and the brand-new Calibre 531.

In continuous production, since its inception in 1938 and instrumental in Oris’s return to mechanical watchmaking after the Quartz Crisis, the Big Crown Pointer Date has rightfully earned its place as the brand’s signature design and a Swiss watchmaking icon. Founded in 1904 in Hölstein, in the German-speaking Swiss canton of Basel-Landschaft, by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian, Oris remains one of the watch world’s few remaining major independent brands.

Once upon a time in 1939…

Back in the 1930s, Oris received a now-legendary brief - create a new watch for pilots, one that was precise, reliable and easy to use, especially in the cramped, cold, and unforgiving environment of the cockpit.

The result? A simple steel-cased watch featuring large numerals, a black dial, oversized crown, and a pointer date hand with a red arrow!

What began as a utilitarian pilot’s tool, soon became a cornerstone of Oris’s design DNA.

Big Crown Pointer Date Calibre 403

Leading the way, the Calibre 403 returns in two dial options: a modern matte green with texture you can feel, and a terracotta-salmon shade that radiates understated elegance.

Powering this utilitarian watch is the in-house Calibre 403 movement. This self-winding movement with a five-day power reserve, elevated anti-magnetism, and a 10-year service interval and warranty was first introduced in the Big Crown in 2021.

This powerful timepiece operates at a frequency of 4 Hz (28’800 A/h) and offers an impressive 120-hour power reserve

Encased in 40mm of finely finished stainless steel case, it’s a watch that remembers where it came from—even as it looks ahead.

Gone is the signature red of the date pointer. In its place, a dial-matching arrowhead offers a subtle nod to modern aesthetics, blending in, not standing out.

Priced at $4,100 with a Cervo Volante leather strap and deployant clasp, or $4,300 with a classic stainless-steel H-link bracelet with butterfly clasp, the Big Crown Pointer Date Calibre 403 is definitely a collector’s item.

Big Crown Pointer Date with Calibre 754

Bright. Bold and unmistakably joyous, Big Crown Pointer Date with Calibre 754, comes in three unique hues, a vibrant yellow, a rich, aquamarine blue, and a soft, subtle lilac.

“The colour choices are all tied to our philosophy, they’re warm, inviting and joyful. How could you look at a yellow-dialled Big Crown Pointer Date and not smile? It’s that simple.”

Rolf Studer, CEO, Oris

Each dial features a soft matte finish with luminous applied numerals that sit proudly above the surface, filled with Super-LumiNova® for visibility that glows in low light.

Powered by the Sellita-based Oris 754 self-winding movement, that beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28’800 A/h) and offers 41-hour power reserve.

Sized at 40mm with a stainless-steel case and domed sapphire crystal that softens the edges, while the screw-in security crown holds the watch water-resistant up to 5 bars.

Like the 403 model, the Calibre 754 model also features a colour-matched date pointer, in a slightly lighter shade. Adding to its charm, the happy collection comes paired with a multi-piece stainless-steel metal bracelet with Oris-developed folding clasp.

Priced at $2,300, these beautiful watches “bring a daily dose of joy to the wrist,” as Oris says.

Big Crown 34.00 MM

At the heart of the Big Crown 34.00 MM lies a simple desire. As Oris puts it,

“I’m a big believer in making watches intentionally for women. Our aim was to introduce a version of our signature design that was more elegant, more jewel-like and that would appeal to women. It’s time this industry stopped wondering – women love mechanical watches, too!”

Available in two colours, a textured beige dial or a black dial set with 12 lab grown baguette diamond indices. It will also be powered by Oris Calibre 531 automatic movement, offering 42 hours of power reserve. A domed sapphire crystal softens the silhouette, while the stainless-steel case and bracelet add both polish and presence. Both are available on stainless steel bracelets with folding clasps.

Priced at $2,100 for the brown dial and $3,100 for the diamond-set black dial, these beautiful timepieces are small but fierce.

More than a century since it began, Oris still remains true to its founding spirit— to create beautiful mechanical watches that make people smile.

And nothing much has changed. This year’s vibrant addition to their iconic range echoes with the same joy.
