Twenty-five years ago, Chanel launched one of its most sought-after watch collections—the J12. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the brand has released a new collection of nine ceramic watches. The new J12 Bleu introduces an elegant shade of matte blue. Five years in the making, the collection ranges from 28mm to 38mm timepieces, featuring both mechanical and quartz-powered models—spanning from gem-set designs to a flying tourbillon, and even a fully sapphire-cased watch.

Among the novelties are two limited-edition 33mm timepieces. One version is adorned with 12 brilliant-cut diamond hour markers, while the other has a monochromatic aesthetic with 12 baguette-cut blue sapphires. Both are housed in matte blue ceramic cases with sapphire casebacks and are powered by Chanel’s COSC-certified automatic Caliber 12.2, developed in collaboration with Kenissi, a company in which Chanel holds a stake. The movement offers a 50-hour power reserve. The diamond version is priced at ₹11,16,000, while the sapphire-set version retails for ₹22,05,000.

Stepping up in size and performance, the 38mm J12 Bleu models feature the COSC-certified Caliber 12.1, also developed with Kenissi, offering a 70-hour power reserve. These are available in two variations: a minimalist version with black Arabic numerals and a date window at 4:30, and a more luxurious model featuring twelve baguette-cut blue sapphire indexes. Both share the signature matte blue ceramic construction. The date version is priced at ₹9,90,000, and the sapphire version at ₹22,95,000.

The next trio of timepieces leans into full opulence, with blue sapphires throughout and is offered in three case sizes. The largest, a 42mm model, is limited to 12 pieces and is encrusted with 170 baguette-cut blue sapphires across the bezel, dial, and bracelet, with a diamond on the crown. The 38mm version is limited to 100 pieces, featuring 58 sapphires on the bezel and dial. The smallest, at 28mm, is limited to 12 pieces and sparkles with a total of 196 baguette-cut blue sapphires. The 42mm and 38mm watches are powered by the Caliber 12.1, while the 28mm uses a quartz movement. The 38mm version is priced at ₹1,39,50,000, with the other two available on request.

As part of its haute horlogerie offering, Chanel introduces the J12 Bleu Diamond Tourbillon. Set in a 38mm matte blue ceramic case adorned with 34 baguette-cut blue sapphires, it features a dial cutout at 6 o’clock that reveals the flying tourbillon. At its center floats a custom-cut diamond—Chanel’s signature touch. Limited to 55 pieces, it is powered by the Caliber 5, delivering a 42-hour power reserve. The price is available upon request.

The collection’s showstopper is the J12 Bleu X-Ray. Its case is crafted entirely from blue sapphire crystal, accented with black-coated 18k white gold. Chanel required about 1600 hours to create the timepiece, and it comes adorned with 196 baguette-cut blue sapphires. Limited to just 12 pieces, it's driven by the hand-wound Caliber 3.1, featuring sapphire bridges and plates that create the illusion of a floating movement. Price upon request.
