Ahead of Watches and Wonders 2025, Czapek & Cie. has unveiled its latest timepiece, the Antarctique Tourbillon, which will be showcased at the year's biggest watch fair. This year, the brand also celebrates its 180th anniversary (founded by François Czapek in 1845) and the 10th anniversary of its revival.
Housed in a 40.5mm stainless steel case, the new Antarctique Tourbillon features the brand’s all-new in-house Calibre 9 movement, which beats at 3Hz and offers a 72-hour power reserve. The movement’s slender bridges reveal the tourbillon, gear train, and barrel, arranged in a vertical alignment on the dial. The barrel sits at 12 o’clock, while the flying tourbillon is positioned at 6 o’clock, suspended between the dial and mainplate. The gear train, located beneath the dial, is directly connected to the tourbillon under an elongated, curved minutes bridge. The entire mechanism is visible through a glass box sapphire crystal covering both the front and caseback.
The watch is available in three dial variations: Glacier Blue, Photon Sphere (a rose gold hue), and the 50-piece limited-edition Secret Alloy (mythical grey). The dial features a unique trompe l’oeil guilloché pattern called Singularité, created in collaboration with Metalem, the Le Locle-based dial maker and long-time partner of Czapek & Cie. Unlike traditional guilloché, which originates from a fixed point, Singularité—named after the astronomical term referring to black holes—shifts its starting point with each pass of the rose engine lathe, creating an illusion of infinite depth. The hour markers are mounted on the flange to preserve the dial’s aesthetics and, along with the indexes, are coated with Super-LumiNova for enhanced legibility.
On the caseback, a convex gold oscillating weight features an intricate hand-engraved motif by master engraver Michèle Rothen, echoing the dial’s pattern.
An integrated steel bracelet with polished C-shaped links flanks the case. It is micro-adjustable and features the Easy Release system. An additional calfskin or rubber strap is also included with the watch.
The watch is priced at approximately INR 61,20,000.
