All the watch news, reviews, videos you want, brought to you from fellow collectors
Born in the Japanese village called Minase, located deep amongst the mountains, the brand Minase is officially set to present its latest collection at Watches and Wonders 2025 in Geneva. The brand has introduced the evolution of its Windows collection. For the first time, the collection features dials crafted from electroformed copper and lacquered in a refined palette of white, blue, green, and ice blue. This material innovation enhances the watch’s interplay of depth and light, offering an exquisite visual experience.
The dial surface is adorned with the Yukihira pattern, inspired by the traditional hammering technique used in Japanese metalwork. This textured motif captures and reflects light in a mesmerising dance of shadows and brilliance. Complementing this detail, the polished indexes and case undergo Minase’s sole handmade Sallaz polishing, resulting in a mirror-like finish. The polished steel hands are bent at the tip and coated with luminescence for optimal readability. Additionally, between 3 and 6 o’clock, a retrograde date window enhances the dial’s functionality.
The Windows collection exudes Minase’s distinctive approach to geometry, emphasising the interplay of form and function. The seven-sided case, measuring 38mm x 47 mm, features sapphire crystal windows that provide a 360-degree view of the movement within. The timepiece is offered in 316L stainless steel or 18K rose or yellow gold, with brushed and Sallaz-polished surfaces.
The Swiss ETA 2892-2 movement powers the timepieces, customised for Minase, featuring a bespoke rotor set with ceramic bearings for enhanced precision and longevity. The calibre beats at 4Hz and offers a 50-hour power reserve. It is further beautified by hand-finished perlage, hand-blued screws, and diamond-polished bevels on the bridges. The mainplate and bridges are coloured in striking black.
Flanking the timepieces is either an integrated stainless steel bracelet or a hand-crafted leather strap in black or brown. The leather strap version is priced at approx. INR 4,30,000, and the bracelet version comes at approx. 5,50,000.
What we think -
Independence with a dash of industry integration has been the charm of Minase over the years.
The brand has emphasised aesthetics over the mechanical aspect, which is impressive. We look forward to seeing what the brand will offer next on both fronts.
