Bvlgari’s iconic Serpenti has made a voguish arrival at the Watches and Wonders 2025 fair with the new sleek Serpenti Aeterna bracelet watch, elevating its high-jewellery watch collection. On the mechanical side, the brand has introduced the now-thinnest-ever tourbillon timepiece.

Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon

The quest for creating the thinnest-ever watches is unending. Up until now, Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon held the record of the world’s thinnest tourbillon at 2mm since Watches and Wonders 2024. With a history of holding the thinnest-ever timepieces, Bvlgari has surpassed Piaget to launch the Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon, now the world’s thinnest tourbillon timepiece at just 1.85mm thick.

Made in lightweight yet durable titanium, the 40mm Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon features an integrated tungsten carbide mainplate and caseback, ensuring structural rigidity despite its extreme thinness. The conventional crown has been replaced by two horizontal steel knobs—one for winding and the other for time setting. The hours and minutes display is positioned at 2 o’clock, instead of the regulator-style display seen in Bulgari’s previous ultra-thin models. It comes with a titanium bracelet featuring a concealed folding clasp.

Driving this masterpiece is the hand-wound BVF 900 movement, developed in collaboration with Concepto Watch Factory, an independent movement maker based in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Engineers reimagined traditional watch architecture, placing all components on a single horizontal plane to achieve the ultra-thin profile. The movement features only 15 jewels, relying on miniature ball bearings to reduce friction and component height. The watch delivers a 42-hour power reserve through a large barrel.

To create a tourbillon regulator that could fit a 1.85mm thin case, Bvlgari implemented a peripherally guided tourbillon supported by nine ball bearings instead of the usual bridges securing the case from above and below. The tourbillon cage itself measures just 1.18mm in height. Further refinements include a flat balance spring, gold adjustment weights instead of a traditional index, and a flexible bridge with an integrated stud holder acting as a shock absorber.

A limited edition of just 20 pieces, the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon is priced at approximately INR 6,97,00,000.

Serpenti Aeterna

2025 is the Year of the Snake, and Bvlgari left no stone unturned to make it a memorable one with the latest serpent in its collection. The brand has unveiled the new Serpenti Aeterna collection, featuring a sleek, sculpted bangle watch in precious metals adorned with diamonds. The high-jewellery Aeterna sheds off the conventional style with eyes and scales or the serpent’s mouth that opens to reveal the dial. However, the etched hexagonal scales on the inner surface, as in the previous Serpenti models, remain intact. The timepiece is offered in two sizes, 145mm and 155mm.

Featuring an arrowhead-shaped dial resting on the snake’s head, the Aeterna has been introduced in two versions—The first is a rose gold case studded with snow-set brilliant-cut diamonds on the dial, crown, and along the serpent’s spine; the second is crafted in white gold, set throughout with diamonds, with the crown studded with emerald. The former has the hour and minute hands in rose gold, and the latter features the hands in green. Beating inside is a quartz movement, allowing the wearer to hook the eyes on the beauty.
