In an innovative move, Geneva-based independent watchmaker ArtyA has unveiled its latest novelty—the Purity Wavy HMS Mirror. This timepiece introduces the brand’s first-ever mirror caseback, a creative design conceived by Jérémie Arpa, son of ArtyA’s founder, Yvan Arpa. The one-way mirrored caseback creates an illusion of depth, making the movement appear as though it is floating. A triple anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal tops the case.
At the heart of the timepiece lies ArtyA’s newest in-house manual-wound calibre, the Stairway To Heaven HMS. This open-worked movement powers the hours, minutes, and seconds while delivering a 72-hour power reserve, courtesy of its twin parallel barrels. The winding state is subtly revealed through the exposed springs. Beating at 4 Hz, the movement features a ‘starified’ escapement, dramatically suspended at the centre and topped by a hand-bevelled, triple-arched bridge on the left. The movement is further adorned with the microbead-frosted finish on the minute train and balance bridges, with hand-chamfered edges. The polished mainsprings reduce friction within the barrel assemblies. Time is displayed via sword-shaped central hands, with laser-engraved indices discreetly positioned on the underside of the sapphire crystal.
The 40mm timepiece is encased in grade 5 titanium known for being lightweight and robust. The case is microbead-frosted for a refined matte finish, further protected by a transparent DLC coating that ensures scratch resistance. Furthermore, a mirror-polished lug-to-lug contour adds a balanced contrast to the otherwise subdued texture. Flanking the case is an alligator or grey nubuck leather strap fastened with a pin buckle, available with or without black DLC coating. The timepiece also offers 50 metres of water resistance.
Limited to 99 pieces, the Purity Wavy HMS Mirror is priced at approx. INR 25,10,000. The timepiece is also available in sapphire case versions at a price of approx. INR 43,52,000.
